Urša Urša

Urša Žgank

Urša born in the former Yugoslavia, Slovenia presently. She started with yoga four years ago in Prague, where she immigrated in 2001, where she studied and successfully graduated in film and television directing from FAMU.

In November, the proper winter began in Prague (like every year). All the cafes around FAMU then had terrible coffee, and so Urša sought out another way to warm up and spend time between classes. And then she discovered Bikram Yoga.

Urša had always liked extremes. At her first lesson she found it interesting that for the full 90 minutes of intense exercise you are not given any room for cheating yourself. Actually it is the only moment of the day, when one is honest to with oneself. Any improvements are the result only of one‛s own efforts. Since then Urša has become a professional yogi, in the fall of 2010 she successfully completed the Teacher‛s Training in San Diego and became an instructor.

Bikram Yoga therapy takes great concentration, because the emphasis on accuracy requires complete concentration on the present moment and work by doing. From the moment she first stepped on the mat in the studio in Prague, every lesson teaches something new. It‛s an endless process of identifying and pushing the limits of one‛s own possibilities. You can‛t always get what you want, but you get what you need.

Favorite Posture
Standing Head to Knee Pose is my favorite posture. It is one of the toughest in the entire series and if you want to master, you must learn self-control in particular. In addition, this posture tells you every day something new about yourself, and acts as a barometer of your current physical and mental condition.
Least Favorite Posture
My least favorite posture is Backward Bending. Why? I associate it with physical pain, in the lower back and legs. The acquisition of this posture and the gradual deepening may make you feel the loss of stability and control, which most of us do not like. Sometimes I say that sincerely hate this posture.
